Byron Rec Path

Byron Recreational Path

The Byron Recreational Path Committee is a citizen group with the desire to connect our local paths to create a single continuous path through our community. The long term goal is to connect our local paths to larger recreational path systems in the area which would open our community to further tourism.

The committee is also considering future plans to continue the path to the north towards existing subdivisions and to the east toward other communities. The committee is always looking for more volunteers. There is always a need for representation from subdivisions that are being built in the community as well as local groups that utilize the recreational path. There is a specific need for volunteers from subdivisions along Mill Rd. If you are interested in being involved with the committee, please call 815.234.8435 for meeting times.

As with all community projects, progress depends on financing. Fundraising will be an ongoing effort if expansion of the pathway system is to be realized. While outside funding such as grants are being pursued, most of the necessary funding comes from local donors. The contributions by individuals, businesses, and agencies have funded the current pathway, and it is hoped that these donations continue. If you, your family or your business is in a position to make a tax-deductible contribution, it would be appreciated by the entire Byron Community. Also, a donation to the recreation path through your estate can leave a lasting legacy for many to enjoy. Please call 815.234.8435 if you have further questions.
